CBSE recently released the revised syllabus 2021-2022 for classes 9 and 10.
The nationwide lockdown has disrupted the entire curriculum.
As a solution to this, CBSE has come forward with a solution by reducing the syllabus.
This plan of action by the board came after crucial class 10 and 12 exams were forced to be canceled due to the unpredictable situation caused by the second wave of coronavirus.
The newly proposed solution will put the students’ learning at ease.
The board has also announced propositions to extenuate the syllabus for the 2021-22 academic session and to make the internal assessment and project work more sound and feasible.
The board explained that the syllabus for the academic session 2021-22 will be divided into two terms by following a systematic approach in a way giving a detailed outlook into the interconnectivity of concepts and topics by the Subject Experts.
The new revised syllabus for class9 and 10 provides a comprehensive idea about board examinations, marking systems, prescribed textbooks, and model question papers.
The students need to follow the new pattern introduced by CBSE to crack the examinations easily.
To obtain better marks, students should score well for internals and both Term 1 and Term 2 examinations.
Certain changes will be done depending on the situation regarding Covid-19.
Term 1 Exam Pattern and Timelines
CBSE is to conduct the term 1 exam during November and December 2021.
The question paper will be based on Multiple choice questions, which include both case-based multiple-choice questions and Assertion reasoning types of Multiple choice questions.
The exam will be 90 minutes long enough to crack all the questions, and the students will get 20 minutes extra to read the question paper.
Students have to record their answers on OMR sheets, which will be then scanned and instantly uploaded to the CBSE portal, or they will instantly assess the answers, and the results are said to be posted on the same day if the situation is not conducive.
Students’ total scores will be determined by evaluating both term 1 and term 2 examination results.
Term 1 exams will be conducted in the respective schools of students.
However, to make it fair for the students as well as teachers, the examinations will be conducted under the supervision of external center superintendents and observers appointed by the board.
Schedule: November-December 2021
Exam Pattern: Multiple choice questions(Case-based and Assertion Reasoning types)
Syllabus: Opening 50% of the syllabus
Time Duration: 20 minutes for reading the question paper thoroughly and 90 minutes for examination
Term 2 Exam Pattern and Timelines
CBSE will conduct the term 2 examinations for grade 12 during March and April 2022.
50% of the syllabus Will be covered in the examination.
The exams will be 2 hours long and will be conducted at CBSE-designated examination centers.
The question paper will be of different formats, which include case-based/situation-based, open-ended-short answers/ long answer types.
The total score will be the sum of the results of internal assessment tests and external assessment tests.
The internal assessment will include 3 periodic tests, student enrichment, portfolio, and practical work or speaking and listening activities or projects.
If the situation is not conducive for a normal descriptive examination, then the board may conduct a 90-minute multiple-choice question exam as well.

Exam Pattern: Normal descriptive examination including case-based/situation-based, open-ended-short answers/long answer types.
Syllabus: Remaining 50% of the syllabus from the Term1 examination
Time Duration: 2 hours
