How to Crack Maths in 10th CBSE Board Exam

We all know that math is a very important subject, not only in school but in many aspects of life.

Math is the foundation for exams like IIT JEE, NEET, CAT, UPSC, SSC, and other entrance exams.

Mastering math will help improve skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical thinking, time management, etc.

But most of the students fear math and couldn’t score very well in math exams.

This is mainly due to the lack of a good exam strategy for math.

In this blog, we will discuss some important actions to be taken to ensure a very good mark in the Maths board exam.

Polish your basics

All of the chapters in class 10 mathematics build upon concepts you have learned in lower grades.

In order to do well in class 10, you need to make sure you have a strong foundation in the topics taught in classes up to 9th.

Below is a list of topics that everyone must be familiar with before starting to prepare for the 10th CBSE board examination:

  • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of real numbers
  • Multiplication table
  • BODMAS
  • Area, perimeter, and volume of geometric figures
  • Concepts, theories, and properties of lines, angles and triangles
  • Solving linear equations in one variable
  • Basic equation of probability
  • Mean, median and mode
  • Basics of coordinate geometry
  • Ratios and proportions

Know your syllabus and chapter wise weightage

There have been some changes to the CBSE Board exam syllabus for 2023.

Make sure you’re up to date on the latest syllabus so you don’t waste your time studying topics that have already been deleted.

You can find the updated syllabus here: https://cbseacademic.nic.in/curriculum_2023.html

It’s important to be aware of the weightage of each chapter when studying for exams.

That way, you can spend more time on chapters that are worth more points.

Use the table below to find the weightage of each chapter.

Formula book

Creating a handbook that covers all the equations and theories from 15 chapters can be incredibly helpful when revising for exams.

Make sure to review the handbook on a daily basis and commit all the formulas to memory.

Please only include the essential details in this handbook – make it short and sweet!

You can download a short note prepared by expert teachers at Angle tuition by clicking the link below.

Practice makes perfection !!

Like any skill, math skills improve with consistent practice.

You can’t just read or memorize your way to a good math score.

It takes continuous practice to master all the concepts.

Make sure you’ve gone through all the exercises in the NCERT textbook at least three times before the 2023 CBSE board exam.

You can also make use of guides from the following authors:

  • RD Sharma
  • S. Aggarwal
  • Arihant

Students who choose basic mathematics should primarily focus on questions from the NCERT instead of using study guides.

Self-evaluation

Evaluating yourself with chapter wise and model exams is an important step in preparing for any exam.

It helps you to identify which chapters you need to focus on more, and also helps you with time management for the final exam.

Try to complete the model question paper of 80 marks in 3 hours.

By doing this regularly, you can create your own strategy for time management in the CBSE 2023 board exam.

You can find the official model question paper released by CBSE.

The Challenge !

Why do 2 out of 3 students fear Maths?

Because they have doubts and blocks that prevent them from understanding the concepts.

It’s natural to have doubts, but if you don’t have someone to help you clear them up, it will affect your ability to learn and do well in the subject.

That’s why it’s important to have a personal mentor who can help you with your Maths education.

At ANGLE tuition, we offer one-to-one classes so that you can get the help you need to clear up your doubts and excel in the subject.

It’s true that math is a hard subject to learn, but once you get the hang of it you’ll realize it was all worth it.
